Where is the Glory?

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34:1-3

This week we have been thinking about Glory and what is it and how is given. There are a lot of organisations doing great work in Gulu, trying to repair the damage done by years of conflict and contributing to the development. Some projects and organisations work better than others but most have one thing in common – signposts. Some are huge, all have the organisation’s logo on it along with a description of the work they have done and the names of any partners they have worked with. Almost every community borehole has one. It is clear their purpose – to give glory to the organisation that gave the money or did the work. This is one simple way we try to be different, not many people know the name of BMS and our projects are not implemented in that name. When a name is needed we use the local Baptist association or Uganda Cristian Lawyers Fraternity with the hope to glorify God through that.  If we ever post a picture of a borehole with ‘WET Consulting’ on it please pick us up on it!

The opening verses are doubly relevant as we have been feeling a bit afflicted recently. Since the turn of the year there has been a lot of sickness in our family and our close community with all of us suffering from one thing or another almost on a weekly basis. Could you please pray for Gods protection on us from sicknesses and harm.

Since our last update Linda has been the busy one, she has been taking three schools though the process of drafting and adopting their own child protection policies. She has now completed those schools and delivered the printed policies and a laminated poster to go with them which has all the key information on it. This has been a very worthwhile process; when they were first introduced Linda was assured that there was ‘no such problems in this school’ at each place but though the training week and follow up each school admitted to having their own problems, in one case a very serious one. Linda was able to encourage and help the school to follow up that problem and it is now being dealt with.  She has also been able to train the nursery teachers of the future on child protection at their training centre and has now been invited to train at the primary teachers collage over a number of weeks to train 400 future primary teachers.

Linda also now has a legal intern (thank you all for your prayers) to help with the workload Sharon started at the beginning of this month and will be with us until mid August. Sharon was part of the student fellowship that Linda mentored in 2015, she moved schools and is currently studying in Kampala. Having her is already being a blessing for Linda to help with the administrative work. Currently the schools are on term break so this has been good opportunity to revaluate and catch up on all the admin.

Tim has had a slightly quieter period with WET which was probably needed, but he has visited a community that has applied to be the beneficiary of one of our discounted boreholes and it all checks out. We hope to be drilling there in the coming weeks. We also got some good news this week that that we have ‘won’ our biggest commercial contract yet which is the design and build of a small-scale water supply system at a theological seminary. We will fit an existing borehole with an electric pump and get a water tower and tank along with all the pipes and taps needed to supply five water points.

As always, thank you all for you interest and prayers and for supporting us as we continue this journey.

Many Blessings

Tim, Linda, Joshua, Annabelle and Elsa
